NORDsummer: The Scandinavian Summer Language Institute

NORDsummer is a special eight-week intensive language program for people interested in learning Scandinavian languages. Synchronous online courses in elementary Norwegian and Swedish will be offered in Summer 2023. NORD being offered online allows students from all around the world to jump-start their Scandinavian language studies and have access to languages that are not commonly available elsewhere.

NORDsummer is one of seven Wisconsin Intensive Summer Language Institutes (WISLI) and is sponsored by the Language Program Office (LPO); European Studies at UW-Madison, a Title VI National Resource Center; and German,Nordic, and Slavic+ (GNS+) at UW-Madison.

Collaborating with WISLI, the LPO, European Studies, and GNS+, offers competitive pricing for out-of-state residents, extra-curricular cultural programming, and pedagogy training and support for NORD instructors.
