This workshop, led by Kimberly Vinall and Emily Hellmich, University of California, Berkeley, presents the findings of a computer-tracking study that used screen recording and retrospective interviews to observe and understand how world language learners used machine translation platforms while writing. Different approaches for language instructors and programs on how to address machine translation in the language classroom will be discussed.
